Point Park's Pruneda picks up RSC Softball Player of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Point Park (Pa.) University shortstop Lily Pruneda hit .636 in four games last week to pick up River States Conference Softball Player of the Week for April 23-29.
The senior from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., racked up seven hits in the four games, which were during a perfect week of 4-0 for the Pioneers in conference play. Pruneda hit safely in all four games as the Pioneers swept both ends of doubleheader versus Brescia (Ky.) and IU Southeast. She scored five runs, doubled three times, drove in five runs and collected two walks.
A big game was going 3 for 4 with two runs and a double in a 4-3 win over Brescia. She had a key hit in the seventh to set up that walk-off win. Prundea was 2 for 3 with two runs and a double in a 5-0 win over IU Southeast and then 1 for 2 with a double and two RBIs in a 4-3 victory over the Grenadiers to take both ends of the doubleheader.
Next up is the RSC Softball Tournament May 4-5 at Jackson Memorial Park in Vienna, W.Va.
