2018 All-RSC Baseball Teams & Awards announced at RSC Tournament

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- The All-RSC Baseball Teams & Awards were announced Thursday night at the RSC Baseball Tournament. The awards ceremony was in between games at VA Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio. The following are this year's award winners.

Dylan Shockley, a sophomore catcher from University of Rio Grande, earned RSC Baseball Player of the Year honors. He entered the tournament hitting .382 with four homers, 38 RBIs and 68 hits in 50 games. He led the RedStorm to the No. 3 playoff seed and is a top defensive player in the league as well as the catcher on the All-RSC Gold Glove Team and one of two catchers on the All-RSC First Team.

Renton Poole, a junior right-hander from IU Kokomo, was named the RSC Baseball Pitcher of the Year. He entered the tournament with a record of 6-2 with a 2.12 ERA in 13 outings. Poole held opponents to a batting average of just .188 and racked up 86 strikeouts in 68.0 innings. He led the four starting pitchers on the All-RSC First Team.

IU Southeast coach Ben Reel was chosen as the RSC Baseball Coach of the Year after leading the Grenadiers to a record of 38-10 overall and 23-4 RSC to win the regular-season championship in the league. IU Southeast locked up an automatic bid to the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round with that title.

Graeham Luttor, a first baseman from Midway University, was voted as the RSC Baseball Freshman of the Year. He entered the postseason hitting .336 with six home runs and 42 RBIs in 38 games. He made the All-RSC Second Team at first base.

The All-RSC First & Second Teams included 17 players with four starting pitchers, one relief pitcher, two catchers, four infielders, four outfielders, a designated hitter and a utility player on each. Also named was the RSC Baseball Gold Glove team wth the top defensive player at each of the nine positions and the RSC Baseball Champions of Character Team, with one player from each team who best represents NAIA Champions of Character.

The All-RSC Baseball Teams & Awards were voted on by the RSC 10 baseball head coaches. Point Park led the all-conference teams with 11 players named overall with six on the first team and five on the second team. IU Southeast had five on the first team. IU Kokomo put four players on the second team.
