IU Southeast's Joe Glover named RSC Athletic Director of the Year
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- IU Southeast's Joe Glover has been named the 2017-18 River States Conference Athletic Director of the Year, the conference announced Friday (June 1).
The award is voted on by the athletic directors of the conference's 13 member institutions. Glover is currently in his eighth year leading the athletic department at IU Southeast. This is the second time Glover has earned AD of the Year honors with 2012-13 being the other time.
Glover was chosen by his peers after a 2017-18 academic year that saw him serve as the RSC Interim Commissioner for much of the year until Michael Schell was officially hired in March 2018. He was also very active at the NAIA national level representing the RSC on the NAIA Athletic Director's Association with involvement on many important topics. And the year concluded with IU Southeast claiming the RSC Commissioner's Cup as the top overall athletic department in the conference.
"Joe Glover is the consummate professional," said IU Southeast Chancellor Dr. Ray Wallace, the chair of the RSC Council of Presidents. "He cares deeply about his coaches and other athletic personnel. Also, he is there for all our student-athletes and constantly stresses the importance of conducting themselves as ambassadors for our institution and the RSC. I am not surprised he has been voted as AD of the Year; he served as our AD while simultaneously serving as RSC Interim Commissioner. We are all very fortunate to have someone of Joe's caliber working in the RSC."
"This is a very humbling award as we have some outstanding athletic directors in the River States Conference," said Glover. "This award is truly a reflection of the amazing people who work in the athletic program at IU Southeast. Our dedicated staff, coaches and student-athletes are the reason I am lucky enough to earn such an honor. I also have to recognize Deputy AD Denny Williams for all of his assistance with our program. We have a great leadership team and I am proud to be a part of such a dedicated group."
For an impressive sixth time in the last 10 years, Indiana University Southeast claimed the River States Conference Commissioner's All-Sports Cup after the final scores were tabulated for the 2017-18 school year. The Grenadiers came out on top in the scoring used to determine the top overall athletic department in the conference.
The Grenadiers finished first or second in five different sports to key its victory in the race. The Grenadiers finished in first place in baseball and took second-place honors in men's basketball, softball, men's tennis and women's tennis. IU Southeast also finished near the top of its division in women's basketball and volleyball and made the postseason to help secure the cup in those sports as well.
This past year, over half of Grenadier student-athletes were named to the IU Southeast Athletic Director's Honor Roll for achieving a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the 2017-18 school year and 16 student-athletes earned a perfect 4.00 GPA.

Glover is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and the National Association of Athletic Development Directors (NAADD). Glover has previously been active in College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and the NAIA Sports Information Directors Association (NAIA-SIDA).
