WVU Tech libero Hawgood earns RSC Volleyball Defender of the Week

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- WVU Tech sophomore Sawyer Hawgood had a big week in the back row to earn River States Conference Volleyball Defender of the Week for Sept. 17-23.

A libero from Kamloops, British Columbia, Hawgood tallied 46 digs and had three matches with double-digit digs to earn the honor. She had an average of 4.09 digs per set. The week also included a 100-percent reception rate, a .917 serve percentage and four service aces.

Hawgood's week featured 15 digs in a win over Rio Grande, 12 in a victory over Cincinnati Christian and a high of 18 in a 3-2 loss to IU Kokomo. WVU Tech is 16-4, 2-1 RSC and hosts a tri-match Sept. 25 with Salem International and Washington Adventist.
