NAIA DII Men's Basketball Top 25 Poll has five RSC teams mentioned this week
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A season-high five teams from the River States Conference are mentioned in this week's NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, which was released by the national office on Tuesday (Jan. 8).
RSC men's basketball boasts three teams ranked in the Top 25 and two more in the "receiving votes" category. No. 12-ranked WVU Tech (14-3, 5-1 RSC) leads the way for the conference and is in a tie for first place in the RSC East Division with No. 17 IU East (13-6, 5-1 RSC) entering Thursday night's league contests. Those squads are a full 3.0 games clear of the rest of the divsion and have been the top-ranked teams in the conference all year.
No. 23 IU Southeast is 11-7 overall, 4-3 RSC and is one of three teams getting national attention from the RSC West Division. Brescia (Ky.) is 9-7 overall and leads the RSC West at 6-1 RSC with its recent wins to move into the "receiving votes" category. The Bearcats won at nationally ranked WVU Tech on Saturday and backed it up with a home win over CCU on Tuesday. IU Kokomo is also "receiving votes" and is 14-3 overall, 4-2 RSC after its win over IU Southeast on Tuesday night to continue the highly competitive division.
