Midway's Evans claims RSC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Midway (Ky.) University sophomore Kwon Evans averaged a double-double of 25.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game in two contests to claim River States Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 7-13.

The 6-5 product of Louisville, Ky., shot 56 percent from the field (19 for 34) and 81 percent from the foul line (13 for 16) to power the Eagles to a 1-1 showing in two RSC games. He also averaged 2.0 assists, 2.5 blocks and 1.0 steals per game.

Evans posted 32 points, 16 rebounds, three blocks, two assists and a steal in a win over Alice Lloyd (Ky.). That game included 12 of 19 field goals. He then notched 19 points, 11 boards, two assists, two blocks and one steal in a loss to Asbury (Ky.).

Midway is 9-7 overall, 4-4 RSC and hosts Rio Grande (Ohio) on Thursday.
