MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Point Park University junior Xavier Stephens ran two 800-meter races in strong fashion to earn River States Conference Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for Jan. 21-28.

Stephens, from Uniontown, Pa., ran the individual 800 meters in a time of 1:56.53 to place fourth at the SPIRE Midwest Open. It was inside the NAIA national standard before the conversion for track size.

He also anchored the Pioneers' 4x800 relay squad that qualified for NAIA indoor nationals with a time of 7:50.50 and placed first at the meet. That put Point Park in the NAIA No. 1-ranking for that event for the second time this year and set a school record. All four relay members split under 2:00.

Point Park will travel to the YSU Mid-Major Invitational on Feb. 1-2.
