Point Park's Campbell runs to RSC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Point Park University freshman Alyssa Campbell qualified for the NAIA national meet in the 3,000 meters on her way to River States Conference Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for Jan. 21-28.
The New Brighton, Pa., native ran a time of 10:29 in the 3,000 meters to get within the NAIA national-qualifying standard of 10:35. It was her personal best by 19 seconds and placed sixth at the meet.
Campbell turned in another personal best and another Top 10 when she was ninth place in the mile. That was with a time of 5:15. She was also a part of Point Park's 4x800 relay team that set a school record at 10:13.
Point Park's next meet is the YSU Mid-Major Invitational on Feb. 1-2.
