IU East wins RSC Men's Golf Fall Preview for 2019
RESULTS
FLORENCE, Ind. -- IU East men's golf won the team title at the River States Conference Men's Golf Fall Preview with a final-round score of 298 on Tuesday. The Red Wolves were tied for second after a 301 in Monday's first round. After the completion of the 36 holes, they were on top by seven shots with two solid rounds. The tournament was held at Belterra Golf Course in Florence, Ind.
IU Kokomo and Midway (Ky.) tied for second in the final standings. IU Kokomo shot the best round on Tuesday with a 297, which moved the Cougars up from third place after shooting 309 on Monday. Midway shot 305 on Tuesday after opening up tied with IU East with a 301.
First-round leader University of Rio Grande (Ohio) led by four shots with its 297 on Monday. The RedStorm finished in fourth place with a 320 on Tuesday. WVU Tech moved up two spots in the final standings to fifth place with a 306 on Tuesday. The Golden Bears started with a 314.
Asbury (Ky.) University shot rounds of 303 and 319 for sixth place, Brescia (Ky.) University (312-314) took seventh, Point Park (Pa.) University (335-340) placed eighth, and Carlow (Pa.) University (368-385) was ninth. Ohio Christian was represented with three individuals.
IU East's Brady Wheeler and Midway's Cody French tied for medalist honors with two-day totals of 141. French shot a tournament-best 68 (3-under) on Tuesday. Wheeler carded rounds of 70-71. IU East had Rafael Beirana (73-73) in solo third while IU Kokomo's Nate Slack (74-73) and Brescia's Ryan Howard (73-74) tied for fourth.
