IU Kokomo wins RSC Volleyball Championship over WVU Tech, punches NAIA ticket

PITTSBURGH -- iU Kokomo won its fourth RSC Volleyball Championship in five years on Saturday evening, defeating WVU Tech, 3-0, at the Point Park (Pa.) University Student Center. With the win, the Cougars (26-11) advance to the NAIA Volleyball National Championship.
The Cougars won the opening set 25-18 and cruised to a 25-20 win in set two. WVU Tech bounced back in third set, tying the match at 23-23, before junior Erinn Adam had two back-to-back kills leading to a 25-23 victory.
Freshman Kiersten Cooper paced the Cougars with a team-high of 11 kills, as IU Kokomo totaled 43 kills tallying three more than the Golden Bears. Senior McKenna Lundy also posted double digit kills with 10 for the match on a .320 hitting percentage. Erinn Adam added nine kills and senior Mallorie Havens chipped in seven kills. IU Kokomo registered a team hitting percentage of .268 holding the Golden Bears to .136.
Macee Rudy took control of the backline leading the Cougars defensively with 13 digs. Sophomore Kendal Williams dished out 38 assists also contributing the second highest number of digs with nine. IU Kokomo out-blocked WVU Tech 19 to five with Erinn Adam recording nine individually throughout the match.
Individually:
Kiersten Cooper led IU Kokomo on offense with 11 digs.
Macee Rudy led on defense once again with 13 digs.
Kendal Williams registered 38 assists and nine digs.
Erinn Adam led in blocks posting nine throughout the match.
As a Team:
IU Kokomo outhit WVU Tech 43 to 43 on a .268 hitting percentage.
The Cougars had 40 assists and three service aces.
Defensively, IU Kokomo total 47 digs and 19 blocks
