MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- IU East goalkeeper Gabby Mitchum for the third this year was selected as the River States Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week. The latest accolade is for Oct. 28-Nov. 4.

Mitchum, a sophomore from Brookeville, Ind., did not allow a goal in 200 minutes of action across two games last week. First, she had eight saves in a 90-minute shutout of Rio Grande (Ohio), 5-0. She followed that up with two saves in a double-overtime tie with WVU Tech, 0-0.

Those results clinched a top-two seed for the Red Wolves in the upcoming RSC Women's Soccer Championship. IU East will have a bye into the semfinals Nov. 13, and it finished the regular season at 11-3-3 overall, 6-1-3 RSC.
