Point Park's Shields repeats as RSC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year / Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Point Park University's Anna Shields totaled 42.5 points on the track at the River States Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship last Friday to garner RSC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year honors. She won the award for the second year in a row. As the top performer in the conference over the last week, she was also chosen as the RSC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for Feb. 4-10.
Shields, a senior from Torrington, Conn., won four individual events for 10 points each time, and she also played a big part in the Pioneers' first-place 4x400 relay for 2.5 more points to her name. That led Point Park to a second-consecutive team title. Shields claimed victory in the 600, mile, 1000 and 3000 meters individually before running the third leg of the 4x400.
Point Park's next event is the Kent State Tuneup Feb. 16.
