Asbury (Ky.) tabbed as 2019 RSC Women's Tennis Coaches' Preseason Poll favorite
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Asbury (Ky.) University has been picked as the 2019 River States Conference Women's Tennis Coaches' Preseason Poll favorite. The Eagles, who have won the last three RSC Championships, were the clear choice in the polling of the league's head coaches with 49 votes to top the list of eight schools
Asbury received all seven of the possible first-place votes as the unanimous pick. The Eagles are also the RSC top team in the eyes of the national voters as they are currently "receiving votes" in the NAIA Women's Tennis Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
IU East was picked second in the poll with 41 votes and the remaining first-place vote. The Red Wolves have a 6-2 record from the fall season and reached the conference semifinals in 2018.
IU Southeast was picked third and received 39 votes. The Grenadiers were the RSC runner-up last season and have started out their spring season with a victory this past weekend.
Midway (Ky.) University was chosen fourth in the poll and garnered 31 votes. The Eagles are 5-1 on the year and made the RSC semifinals a year ago. IU Kokomo came in fifth with 24 votes followed by Brescia (Ky.) University (17), Carlow (Pa.) University (14) and Ohio Christian University (9).
The 2019 RSC Women's Tennis Championship will be held April 26-27 at the Linder Tennis Facility in Mason, Ohio. The six-team, single-elimination tournament will send the champion to the NAIA National Championship May 14-18 at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala.
