WVU Tech's Requena receives another RSC Women's Basketball Player of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- WVU Tech forward Laura Requena averaged 17.5 points and 16.5 rebounds per game in two victories to claim River States Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 28-Feb. 3. It is her second weekly honor this season.
A 6-0 junior from Madrid, Spain, Requena totaled 35 points, 33 rebounds and seven assists in two games last week. She shot 58 percent from the field (14 for 24) and 88 percent from the foul line (7 for 8).
Requena now has seven double-doubles in a row. That's after collecting 16 points and 12 rebounds in a win over Ohio Christian and then 19 points and a career-high 21 boards in a win at IU East.
WVU Tech is 18-8 overall, 13-1 RSC and takes an 11-game win streak into its game at Carlow on Tuesday.
