Point Park goes back to back as RSC Men's Indoor Track & Field Champions

TIFFIN, Ohio -- Point Park (Pa.) University made it back-to-back titles by claiming the River States Conference Men's Indoor Track & Field championship on Friday from Tiffin University's Heminger Center. The Pioneers won the inaugural indoor conference championships last year and backed it up again this season by placing first of eight teams.

Point Park totaled 156 points in the team standings to capture the title. It was a close race until the end with the Pioneers edging out RSC runner-up IU East, which was second place with 142 points. Cincinnati Christian University was in the lead at the midway point of the meet with a strong showing early on and ended up in third place with 120 points.

The rest of the team standings had WVU Tech in fourth place with 107 points, University of Rio Grande (Ohio) in fifth place with 84, Ohio Christian University in sixth place with 63, Carlow (Pa.) University in seventh place with 26 and Brescia (Ky.) University in eighth place with 18.

Point Park's Michael Morris led the Pioneers to the championship by being named the RSC Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Year. He placed in all three jumps taking second in the high jump, third in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump. He was also sixth in the 60-meter hurdles to total 20 points on the day.

Point Park's Kelly Parsley repeated as RSC Men's Indoor Track & Field Coach of the Year. He is in his fifth year at the school and has led the Pioneers to the titles the last two years.

Seth Reynolds and Will Mundy led IU East to the runner-up placement. Reynolds was selected RSC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year by scoring 24.5 points on the track. He repeated as 60-meter hurdles champion, placed second in the 400, fifth in the 200 and led off the winning 4x400 relay.

Mundy was named RSC Men's Indoor Track & Field Newcomer of the Year with 22.5 total points scored. He won the 200 and the 400 running NAIA 'B' standards in both and also anchored the first-place 4x400 relay.
