WVU Tech's Atanacio named RSC Softball Pitcher of the Week

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- WVU Tech junior Karina Atanacio compiled a 0.38 ERA in 18.2 innings last week to earn River States Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for March 18-24.

The Middletown, Del., native was 3-0 in three appearances and gave up just two runs on the week. Atanacio led the Golden Bears to a record of 3-0 overall and 2-0 RSC on the week by racking up 12 strikeouts and four walks.

She pitched all 10.0 innings in a 3-1 win over Cincinnati Christian to finish off the week. That included seven strikeouts, three walks and just five hits in the outing. Atanacio also picked up an 11-0 win over Ohio Christian, which was a two-hit shutout with four strikeouts in five innings. She also went 3.2 innings in a 4-3 victory over Glenville State.

WVU Tech is 13-13 overall, 5-3 RSC and will host Brescia (Ky.) and IU Southeast this weekend.
