Shockley named RSC Baseball Player of the Week from (RV) Rio Grande
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- (RV) University of Rio Grande (Ohio) catcher Dylan Shockley collected 10 hits in five games last week to earn River States Conference Baseball Player of the Week for April 8-14.
Shockley, a junior from Minford, Ohio, was 10 for 19 on the week to lead the RedStorm to a 4-1 record in five games. He hit safely in every game, tallied three multi-hit games and also tripled, homered, drove in four runs and walked three times.
A big game was going 4 for 5 with a home run and three RBIs in the series opener versus Ohio Christian, a 14-3 win. He had eight hits in the series sweep, including a 2-for-4 showing with a triple in the finale. Shockley's week also featured going a combined 2 for 5 with two runs and an RBI in a doubleheader split at Campbellsville (Ky.).
Rio Grande is 30-15, 14-7 RSC and will be at No. 21 Georgetown (Ky.) on April 16.
