Ben Reel reaches 400 Career Wins for No. 24-ranked IU Southeast

NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- Ben Reel, in his 11th year as head coach of No. 24-ranked IU Southeast, reached the 400-career win milestone during last weekend's series versus Cincinnati Christian. The Grenadiers gave Reel the milestone win this past Saturday on Senior Day with wins of 11-1 and 15-1.

After a win over Miami-Hamilton on Tuesday, April 23, Reel's career record is 401-208. He has averaged more than 36 wins per season for his career and holds the IU Southeast record for career winning percentage at .657.

IU Southeast is 31-16 overall, 18-6 RSC on the year. Here is more about the milestone wins from IU Southeast sports information:

ST. MATTHEWS, Ky. -- IU Southeast head baseball coach Ben Reel recorded his 400th career win in a 11-1 win over Cincinnati Christian to cap off a Senior Day sweep of the Eagles. The Grenadiers took game one of the doubleheader 15-1 in seven innings.

In game one, IU Southeast (30-16, 18-6 RSC) gave up the first run of the contest in the first inning and then scored the next 15 in the game.

In the second inning, the Grenadiers struck for four runs in the inning. Santrel Farmer had a RBI single, Daunte Decello had a two-run single and Clay Woeste doubled to score Decello.

Dalton Mitchell recorded a RBI double in the third and Tyler Mills scored on a wild pitch.

In the fourth inning, Cody Maloon hit a two-run triple to right and Jordan Branz drove in Tyler Warmathwith a triple. Dalton Mitchell singled to score Branz.

Derek Wagner hit a grand slam in the sixth inning to blow the game open.

Jack Wohlert (8-1) earned the complete-game win. He gave up one run on five hits while walking one and striking out four.

In game two, Cody Maloon opened the scoring with a RBI single in the bottom of the first. Tyler Warmath drove in Dalton Mitchell to double the lead in the second inning.

In the third inning, Branz recorded an RBI single to score Maloon who had reached on an error.

Maloon drove in two more in the bottom of the fourth. Derek Wagner hit his sixth home run of the season and second of the day to left to lead off the sixth inning.

Kyle Hawkins worked five innings to get the win. Andrew Yates worked two scoreless innings in relief.

Tyler Warmath went 3-for-4 in the win.

IU Southeast hosts Campbellsville and Miami-Hamilton on Monday and Tuesday to conclude the home schedule for 2019.
