All-RSC Men's Tennis Teams & Awards recognized at RSC Championships

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- The 2019 River States Conference Men's Tennis Championship began on Thursday night with the recognition of the All-RSC Men's Tennis Teams & Awards at the Queen City Racquet Club. An awards ceremony was held prior to the conference championship this weekend.

Voted on by the the league's head coaches, the All-RSC First & Second Teams were chosen. Also selected was the RSC Player of the Year, Newcomer of the Year, Coach of the Year and the RSC Champions of Character Team.

Asbury junior Joshua Turnquest was picked as RSC Player of the Year as the vote leader. He was the clear choice as the No. 21-ranked player in the ITA who went undefeated in RSC play and beat three ranked opponents during the course of the year. Turnquest is a native of Nassau, Bahamas, and he led the six-player All-RSC First Team.

Brescia freshman Danila Pyzh was chosen as the RSC Newcomer of the Year. The native of Minsk, Belarus, went 4-1 in his five RSC matches to lead the Bearcats to a playoff spot. He led the voting among new players to the league and was on the All-RSC First Team.

Also making the All-RSC First Team were IU Southeast teammates Garrett Fensler and Brock Winchell. Asbury's Choopat Suvimolstean and Midway's Julian Lopez were first-team selections as well. There were eight players named to the All-RSC Second Team to include the top six and ties. Asbury and IU East had three of those players each to lead the way.

RSC Coach of the Year honors went to Jarred Miller of Asbury. He led the Eagles to their eighth RSC regular-season title in a row and a perfect 5-0 RSC record and No. 1 tournament seed. Asbury is 11-3 overall and "receiving votes" just outside the NAIA Top 25 Poll.

The RSC Champions of Character Team named one player from each school who be exhibits the five character values of NAIA Champions of Character, which are respect, responsibility, intergrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.

See below for the complete listing of the All-RSC Teams & Awards. The RSC Men's Tennis Championship will begin on Friday back at the Queen City Racquet Club. Friday's action was moved to that indoor facility due to weather. The men's quarterfinals have been moved up to 10 a.m. with the men's semifinals also moved up one hour from originally planned to 2 p.m.
