Conkey named RSC Softball Pitcher of the Week for (RV) Rio Grande
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- (RV) University of Rio Grande (Ohio) senior Kelsey Conkey tossed a pair of three-hit shutouts on the week to claim River States Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for April 22-28.
Conkey, from Minford, Ohio, blanked Heidelberg and Carlow in similar fashion. Both outings included three hits allowed, six strikeouts and no walks. The RedStorm won the first game, 7-4, and took the second one, 10-0. With the wins, Conkey is now 14-4 on the year with a 1.77 ERA.
Rio Grande was 3-1 overall on the week to improve to 32-12, 17-1 RSC. The RedStorm is the top seed in the upcoming RSC Softball Championship May 2-4 in Vienna, W.Va.
