Criner cranks out another RSC Softball Player of the Week for (RV) Rio Grande
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- (RV) University of Rio Grande (Ohio) shortstop Michael Criner had another huge week to earn River States Conference Softball Player of the Week for April 22-28.
A native of Bremen, Ohio, Criner hit .643 on the week with nine hits in 14 at bats. She mashed five extra-base hits with those being three homers, a double and a triple. Criner totaled five RBIs and seven runs as Rio Grande went 3-1 in four games.
She capped off the week going 4 for 4 with four runs, a homer and two RBIs in the second game fo a doubleheader at Carlow (Pa.). She had six hits, scored six runs and homered twice in the doubleheader sweep of the Celtics. Earlier in the week, Criner collected three hits in a split with Heidelberg. That included a home run and a triple in the first game, a 7-4 win.
For the year, Criner is hitting .404 with 10 doubles, nine triples, 10 homers and 32 RBIs. Rio Grande (32-12, 17-1 RSC) is the No. 1 seed for the upcoming RSC Softball Championship May 2-4 in Vienna, W.Va.
