Stephens the RSC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week from Point Park (Pa.)
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Point Park (Pa.) University junior Xavier Stephens qualified for the NAIA national championship in the 800 meters to claim River States Conference Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week from April 1-7.
Stephens, from Uniontown, Pa., raced to a time of 1:53.53 to win first place at the NCAA Division II Slippery Rock Invitational and qualify for the NAIA outdoor championships with the 'B' standard. It was a personal best and surpassed his own school record in the event. There were 60 runners entered in the event at SRU.
Point Park will be respesented at the Westminster Invitational and also the Bucknell Bison Classic this coming weekend.
