Criner captures RSC Softball Player of the Week for (RV) Rio Grande (Ohio)
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- (RV) University of Rio Grande shortstop Michaela Criner had four hits and six runs in two games to capture River States Conference Softball Player of the Week from April 1-7.
Criner, from Bremen, Ohio, was 4 for 9 in a doubleheader sweep of Kentucky Christian for a .444 average on the week. The doubleheader included a triple, a homer, a walk and six RBIs.
Criner was 1 for 4 with a home run, two runs and four RBIs in the first game and then 3 for 5 with a triple, four runs and two RBIs in the nightcap. That pushed her season average to .393 with eight doubles, seven triples and six homers for an RSC best slugging percentage of .795.
Rio Grande is 24-10 overall, 12-0 RSC and will visit Carlow (Pa.) and Point Park (Pa.) on the weekend.
