(RV) Rio Grande, No. 24 IU Southeast representing in NAIA Baseball National Championship
(RV) University of Rio Grande (Ohio) and No. 24 IU Southeast are representing the River States Conference in the NAIA Baseball National Championship, which is being held at nine sites around the country May 13-16. The nine opening round winners will advance to the NAIA World Series May 24-31 in Lewiston, Idaho.
Rio Grande won the RSC Championship and enters the national tournament at 38-19 overall and 18-9 RSC. The RedStorm drew the No. 3 seed in the Macon Bracket held in Macon, Ga., and hosted by Middle Georgia State. Rio Grande squares off versus No. 2 Middle Georgia State on May 13 in the first round. The RedStorm is "receiving votes" national in the NAIA Top 25.
IU Southeast won the RSC regular-season championship to secure its bid to nationals. The Grenadiers are 35-18 overall, 21-6 RSC and ranked No. 24 in the NAIA Top 25. IU Southeast was awarded the No. 3 seed in the Lawrenceville Bracket hosted by Georgia Gwinnett. The Grenadiers meet No. 2 seed Georgetown (Ky.) on May 13 to begin the tournament.
