Day 1 Recap: RSC Softball Championship Quarterfinals suspended by rain

RSC Sports Information
VIENNA, W.Va. - Thursday night's quarterfinal round of the 2019 River States Conference Softball Championship was interrupted by heavy rain, forcing officials to suspend both contests with the hopes of resuming the tournament on Friday.

No. 3 seed Point Park University held a 5-0 lead over No. 6 seed WVU Tech with the Golden Bears batting in the top of the fourth inning, while No. 4 seed Midway University had a 1-0 advantage over No. 5 Carlow University with the Celtics coming to bat in the top of the fourth when play was halted.
Conference officials will re-evaluate field conditions and the weather forecast at 6:15 a.m. to determine when - or if - play can be resumed.
Thunderstorms were forecast to return to the area in the early morning hours on Friday and continue well into the evening.
The Carlow-Midway winner was scheduled to face top-seeded Rio Grande at 10 a.m. on Friday, with the Point Park-WVU Tech winner set to meet No. 2 seed Indiana University Southeast at the same time.
A pair of elimination games were set for Friday at noon, with the winner's bracket final set for 2 p.m. and another elimination contest scheduled for 4 p.m.
In the action that did take place on Thursday, Point Park parlayed three hits, a pair of walks and two WVU Tech errors into five first inning runs.
Midway grabbed its lead on Carlow thanks to a two-out, run-scoring single by Megan Terrell.
