MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Asbury (Ky.) University junior Joshua Turnquest has been chosen as the 2018-19 River States Conference Male Athlete of the Year. The native of Nassau, Bahamas, led the voting of the athletic directors in the league. As a senior, Turnquest was an NAIA All-American and the No. 16-ranked player in the country by the ITA.

Turnquest is a three-time NAIA All-American. He led Asbury back to the NAIA national tournament for the third year in a row. The Eagles captured their third-consectutive RSC Men's Tennis Championship with Turnquest leading the way as RSC Player of the Year.

He dominated the RSC his entire career, and the 2018-19 year was no different. Turnquest went undefeated in RSC action this year to claim conference player of the year for the third time in a row. Overall, Turnquest posted a record of 15-2 in singles play and 13-4 in doubles for the year. His career record is 50-5 in singles matches.

Turnquest finished up the year with two victories in Asbury's NAIA national tournament match. The Eagles came up short to No. 10-ranked Union (Ky.) by a score of 6-3 in the first round. But that was not without Turnquest picking up a victory at No. 1 singles, 7-6, 3-6, 6-1 and an 8-4 victory in No. 2 doubles along with teammate Felipe Penuela. Those were a pair of highlights on the year, along with a win over the No. 3-ranked player in the country earlier in the season.
