Midway's Dylan Brown repeats as RSC Sports Information Director of the Year
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Midway (Ky.) University's Dylan Brown has been named the 2018-19 River States Conference Sports Information Director of the Year. It is the second year in a row that Brown has been tabbed for the honor, and he just finished his third year at Midway. Brown was chosen after a vote from the RSC.
The RSC SID of the Year award annually recognizes one honoree for their dedication to sports information efforts in promotion of their campus, conference and the NAIA. It was established in 2014-15 to honor a deserving candidate and bring attention to the SID role and what it brings to a college athletics department in the RSC.
"I am honored and humbled to win this award amongst a great group of Sports Information Directors in the River States Conference," said Brown. "I wouldn't be able to do the job I love without the support of Midway University President Dr. John P. Marsden, our Athletic Director Rusty Kennedy and our amazing staff and student-athletes. This award is more theirs than it is mine. I also want to thank my colleagues in the RSC for all their support and help along the way. I get the privilege of working with our great staff and student-athletes on a daily basis doing what I love!"
Brown has been an integral part of the Midway athletic department in his three years. He is the media contact for all 21 of the Eagles' varsity sports after the addition of men's volleyball, wrestling and track and field. With the Midway department continuing to add to its sports offerings, Brown has maintained his high level of sports information performance.
Brown has covered the Eagles to some of their highest achievements the last few years including following the Midway women's golf team to the NAIA National Championship this past spring in Oklahoma City, Okla.
Brown has been a major assest to the River States Conference with the execution and sports information coverage of RSC Championship events. The 2018-19 school year was no different with Brown leading the way in the conference providing his expertise at postseason events.
He served as the championship SID at all RSC men's and women's golf championship events this year including both the fall previews and the RSC Championships in the spring. There he coordinated live scoring for the championship and provided photography.
Brown also provided coverage for the RSC Baseball Championship as the primary tournament SID. He presided over live stats and live video streaming while providing a play by play voice to most broadcasts.
Brown also serves as the RSC voting representative in the NAIA National Player of the Week selections for men's and women's basketball and men's and women's golf.
