RSC Volleyball Championship Semifinals Recap: IU Kokomo, IU East march on

The top two seeds have made it to the finals after Indiana University Kokomo and Indiana University East both won the River States Conference Volleyball Championship Semifinal matches on Wednesday, Nov. 18. The Cougars (17-0) and Red Wolves (13-0) are both undefeated, and their will square off for the conference crown on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 1:00 p.m. ET in Kokomo, Ind.
Both teams have locked up an automatic bid to the NAIA Volleyball National Championship in the spring. IU Kokomo won the RSC regular-season title to lock up its qualification. The conference's second bid was to be awarded to the RSC Championship winner or the runner-up if IU Kokomo had gone on to win the title. By reaching the final, IU East has two pathways to NAIAs with an RSC title or runner-up finish.

IU KOKOMO 3, IU SOUTHEAST 1
KOKOMO, Ind. -- The No. 1 seed Cougars stay undefeated by downing the No. 3 seed Grenadiers in a semifinal match featuring two teams from the same RSC West Division. IU Kokomo won the first two sets to take control and took the match, 25-12, 25-17, 20-25, 25-19.
Sidney Gerig and Erinn Adam led the Cougars attack with 12 kills apiece. Lorelei Porter added nine kills as IU Kokomo totaled 49 kills as a team. Kaley Lyons passed out 28 assists, and Macee Rudy led the back row with 17 digs.
IU Southeast put up 47 kills of its own with Jennie Malone posting a match-high 13. Alexis Basset and Delaney Nichols had eight each with setter Hannah Sipe directing with 41 assists. Kenna Burman made 19 digs.
IU EAST 3, MIDWAY 1
RICHMOND, Ind. -- No. 1 seed IU East shook off a first-set loss to advance past No. 2 seed Midway (Ky.) and stay undefeated as well. The Red Wolves won the match, 23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-19.
Jessica Swimm had a huge performance of 20 kills and 11 digs. IU East had 60 kills in the four sets with Hallie Holbrook tallying 15 and Teah Barrett-Matthews in with nine. Reece Shirley recorded a double-double of 48 assists and 15 digs while Samantha Wigfield had 29 digs.
Alysha Tullar paced Midway with 16 kills and 10 digs. Brooke Trompler added nine kills and 24 digs while libero Mariana Rodrirguez totaled 22 digs. Setters Annessa Roysdon (22) and Wilani Velasquez (17) combined for 39 assists.
