MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Indiana University Southeast senior David Burton surpassed 1,000 career points in two big performances and thus earned River States Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 7-13.

Burton, a 6-3 guard from Louisville, Ky., averaged 20.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in two games for the Grenadiers on the week. He made 42 percent from the field (13 for 31), 83 percent from the foul line (10 for 12) and also canned five treys.

He posted a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds in an 82-72 loss at NAIA No. 1 Georgetown (Ky.). Burton tallied 16 points and nine rebounds in an RSC triumph over Oakland City (Ind.), 103-65. For those efforts, he became the 32nd player in school history to eclipse 1,000 career points.
