IU East's Smith gets another RSC Men's Basketball Player of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- IU East senior guard Bishop Smith scored 90 points in three games to earn River States Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 27-Feb. 2. It is his second weekly honor of the season.
The 5-9 native of Indianapolis, Ind., averaged 30.0 points, 5.0 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game on the week. That led the Red Wolves to a 3-0 showing, all in conference play. Smith was 35 for 61 from the floor for 57 percent and 17 for 32 from long range for 53 percent.
Smith started out with 30 points, five rebounds, six assists and six 3-pointers in a win over IU Southeast. He followed that up with 35 points, six assists and 7-for-10 shooting from long range versus Midway. The final game of the week had 25 points, six assists, three steals and four treys versus Brescia.
IU East is 16-9 overall, 10-1 RSC and takes its six-game win streak into Tuesday's home game versus Rio Grande (Ohio).
