(RV) Asbury's Hartkopf nets RSC Men's Tennis Player of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Asbury (Ky.) University junior Luiz Hartkopf went 3-1 in two matches last week to pick up River States Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for March 9-15.
The native of Joinville, Brazil, went a perfect 2-0 in doubles and split his two singles matches as the Eagles went 1-1 versus a pair of fellow "receiving votes" teams.
Hartkopf won in straight sets at No. 4 singles and also 6-3 in No. 3 doubles as Asbury defeated (RV) Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) by a score of 4-3. Despite Hartkopf winning in a tiebreaker 7-6 (5) at No. 3 doubles, the Eagles lost to (RV) Southwestern (Kan.), 4-3.
Asbury concluded the season with those matches March 9-10 to end the year 2-2 overall and just outside the NAIA Top 25 rankings.
