Asbury's Kelm claims RSC Women's Tennis Player of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Asbury (Ky.) University sophomore Giovana Kelm went undefeated on the week to claim River States Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week for March 9-15.
A native of Criciuma, Brazil, Kelm was 2-0 at No. 1 singles and 2-0 at No. 1 doubles in two matches on the week. The Eagles lost a close one, 4-3, to No. 24 Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) and defeated (RV) Southwestern (Kan.), 6-1.
Kelm won in straight sets in singles and 6-3 in doubles in the victory over Southwestern. Despite a 7-6 (5) win in doubles and a 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles, the Eagles fell to Olivet Nazarene.
The Eagles concluded the season with those matches March 9-10 at 2-1 on the year.
