RSC garners three players with NAIA DII Women's Basketball All-America honors
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The River States Conference had three players earn NAIA Division II Women's Basketball All-America honors for 2019-20. The conference had WVU Tech junior Brittney Justice named to the second team while honorable mention honors went to University of Rio Grande (Ohio) senior Sydney Holden and Ohio Christian University senior Staci Pertuset.
Justice was one of 10 players named to the NAIA DII Women's Basketball All-America Second Team. There were 10 players on the first, second and third teams and 32 players named honorable mention.
Justice led the Golden Bears with 17.1 points per game, 52-percent shooting from the field and 53 made 3-pointers. She shot 89 percent from the foul line to rank fourth in the nation. The 5-7 guard paced WVU Tech to a No. 23 national ranking and an upset win in the first round of the national tournament.
Holden earned honorable mention All-America leading Rio Grande in nearly every category. The RSC Player of the Year powered the RedStorm with team-highs of 15.7 points, 8.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.9 steals per game and 28 total blocks. The 5-9 guard was second in the country in assists.
Pertuset led Ohio Christian to the RSC Championship on her way to honorable mention accolades. The 5-8 guard ranked third in the country and first in the RSC in scoring at 21.1 points per game. She was also the national steals leader 4.9 per game and 158 total. That was alongside 8.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.
