MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- The River States Conference is proud to announce that Dr. Daniel Kuthy from Brescia (Ky.) University has been chosen as the 2019-20 RSC Facutly-Athletics Representative of the Year.

Dr. Kuthy is a professor of political science at Brescia, and he has been the FAR of the Bearcats' athletic department the last two years. He was named as this year's honoree after a vote of administrators from around the conference.

The RSC FAR of the Year award was established in 2016-17. Its purpose is to recognize one FAR within the conference each year for outstanding service and dedication to the role with an RSC and NAIA athletic department and campus.

The Faculty-Athletics Representative at NAIA schools is a member of the faculty who works with the athletic department to certify the eligibility of all student-athletes at that institution before they can represent the school in competition. The FAR cannot be a coach or an athletics administrator and is well versed in the rules and regulations of the NAIA.

"Daniel stepped into this role for the University two years ago," said Brescia Director of Athletics Brian Skortz in the nomination of Dr. Kuthy. "Daniel is passionate and driven about making a difference in the lives of our student-athletes as an educator and as our FAR. He is well versed about the rules and regulations of the NAIA eligibility and always seeks the answer through the NAIA and RSC on areas where there is open interpretation or doubt.

"He is always educating coaches and student-athletes on the rules to be eligible to compete. He attends games and contests supporting our student-athletes on and off the field of play. Daniel's responsibilities as FAR have grown as we continue to set records of the number of student-athletes attending Brescia University."
