2019-20 RSC Men's Team of Character: Brescia (Ky.) Men's Soccer
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Brescia (Ky.) University men's soccer has been chosen as the 2019-20 River States Conference Men's Team of Character. The Bearcats are the inaugural recipients of the award, which was added to the RSC's awards program this year.
The RSC Team of Character awards honor one men's and one women's team for their exemplary character and sportsmanship on the field, on campus and in the community. A deserving team demonstrates the NAIA's core character values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship and Servant Leadership. The award is patterned after the national team of character presented by the NAIA.
The Brescia men's soccer team displayed big strides in character and community service for the year. The Bearcats set a goal to in 2019-20 to get more involved. With those efforts, the program has improved the way the team and student-athletes are viewed on campus, in the community and in the conference.
The Bearcats orchestrated a fall festival to raise money for area elementray programs, visited with school students to inspire them to reach their dreams, marched in the Martin Luther King Jr Day parade to support differences, helping local team with training programs and participating in the NAIA's Live 5 program.
On the field, the Bearcats had the fewest cards in the past three seasons. Academically, the Beacats has 15 of 20 players make the honor roll, posted a 3.00 team GPA and had 10 players above a 3.25 GPA.
