2019-20 RSC Women's Team of Character: Indiana East Volleyball
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- The Indiana University East volleyball team has been selected as the 2019-20 River States Conference Women's Team of Character. The award is new this year, and the Red Wolves are the inaugural recipients.
The RSC Team of Character awards honor one men's and one women's team for their exemplary character and sportsmanship on the field, on campus and in the community. A deserving team demonstrates the NAIA's core character values of Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship and Servant Leadership. The award is patterned after the national team of character presented by the NAIA.
Indiana East volleyball led the RSC and ranked No. 11 in the NAIA in terms of total community service hours during the 2019-20 year according to the HelperHelper app, the NAIA's official service tracker as part of the Champions of Charity program. The Red Wolves volleyball team amassed a total of 224.5 total hours of service this year with each team member participating in at least one event.
During the year, the team washed windows at the Friends Fellowship retirement home, hosted third graders in Randolph County during the school's "college for a day" event, helped install flooring for local volleyball tournaments and created videos during the COVID-19 pandemic reading children's books to elementary students.
