2020 RSC Men's XC Coaches' Preseason Poll picks WVU Tech as unanimous choice
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- The 2020 River States Conference Men's Cross Country Coaches' Preseason Poll picked WVU Tech as the unanimous favorite this year. The Golden Bears received first-place votes from each of the other 11 head coaches to get the maximum number possible of 121 total votes.
WVU Tech has won the last two RSC Championships and is in strong position this year with six of its top seven performers returning from last season's conference title. Voting in the poll was conducted by the 12 head coaches in the RSC. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.
Point Park (Pa.) University placed second in the poll with 108 total votes and the remaining first-place vote. The Pioneers have been runner-up in the conference the last three years.
Indiana University Kokomo placed third in the poll with 85 votes. That represents a climb of two places from the end of last year for the Cougars. Asbury (Ky.) University was picked fourth with 83 votes after finishing 2019 in third place.
Indiana University East moved up two spots from the end of last year to fifth this preseason. The Red Wolves received 78 votes. In a tie for sixth place were Ohio Christian University and University of Rio Grande (Ohio) with 74 votes apiece.
The next five teams remained the same order from the 2019 postseason with Midway (Ky.) University in eighth, Brescia (Ky.) University in ninth, Alice Lloyd (Ky.) College in 10th, conference newcomer Oakland City (Ind.) University in 11th and Carlow (Pa.) University in 12th.
