RSC Men's Golf Fall Preview Rd 1 Recap: Midway leads by two over IUE, IUK

FLORENCE, Ind. -- After 18 holes Monday at the River States Conference Men's Golf Fall Preview, Midway (Ky.) University leads by two shots. The tournament is being held at Belterra Golf Club and is a preview of the RSC Men's Golf Championship at the same course this coming spring.

Midway shot a team score of 293 for a 9-over par showing. That was two shots in front of Indiana University East and Indiana University Kokomo, who are tied for second place at 295. Four teams broke 300 on the day with Asbury (Ky.) University in fourth place at 298.

Ohio Christian led the next pack of teams in fifth place at 309. Brescia (Ky.) University shot 311 for sixth place so far, and University of Rio Grande (Ohio) stands in seventh place after a 312.

All 12 RSC men's golf teams are competing this week with WVU Tech (329) next in eighth followed by Alice Lloyd (Ky.) College (330), Point Park (Pa.) University (346), Oakland City (Ind.) University (352) and Carlow (Pa.) University (400).

Midway's Logan Conn shot a blistering, 5-under 66 and is the individual leader after 18 holes. That is three shots ahead of Ohio Christian's Michael Cooper, who shot 2-under 69. IU East teammates Rafael Beirana and Caleb Cochran both shot even par 71 and are tied for thrid.
