Silva scores RSC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for No. 16 Rio Grande (Ohio)
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- No. 16-ranked University of Rio Grande (Ohio) had freshman forward Gabriel Silva put up 13 points in two games to win River States Conference Men's Soccer Player of the Week Oct. 11-17.
Silva, from Sao Luis, Brazil, scored six goals and also added an assist in the RedStorm's 2-0 week. He had five goals and an assist in a 30-0 win over Carlow (Pa.). That contributed to an NAIA team single-game record record for goals and assists in a game. He also added a goal in a 5-1 win over Point Park (Pa.).
Rio Grande (11-2-1, 6-0 RSC) will be at St. Mary-of-the-Woods (Ind.) on Oct. 23.
