Midway's Evans pulls in RSC Men's Basketball Player of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Midway (Ky.) University forward Raekwon Evans had a record-setting week to claim River States Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 22-28.
The senior from Louisville, Ky., averaged 29.3 points, 11.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game in a huge performance across three games. A big highlight was a school-record 45 points in a 157-135 win over Greenville (Ill.). It was the first of two wins at the Jim Reid Classic at Georgetown (Ky.) College.
The record-setting win also included 12 rebounds and seven assists. Evans had double-doubles in all three games to lead the Eagles to a 2-1 week. He also shot 64 percent (39 of 61) from the field. The Eagles lost to IU Southeast despite 23 points, 10 rebounds and four assists from Evans. In a win over Wilberforce, he posted 20 points, 12 rebounds and a couple of steals.
Midway is 6-2 overall, 1-1 RSC and will play at Alice Lloyd (Ky.) on Nov. 30.
