WVU Tech, Rio Grande embark on NAIA MBB National Championship Opening Round
WVU Tech and Univesity of Rio Grande (Ohio) begin the NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship Opening Round March 12-13 at campus sites around the country. The Golden Bears and RedStorm are representing the River States Conference at the national tournament.
WVU Tech (12-6) is the No. 3 seed in the Crestview Hills Bracket Bracket A and will take on No. 2 seed (RV) Rochester (Mich.) (13-3) in the opening round on Friday, March 12 at 12:00 p.m. ET. That pod is located on the campus of Thomas More (Ky.). The WVU Tech-Rochester winner will advance to play No. 1 seed and No. 6 nationally ranked Shawnee State (Ohio) (26-2) on Saturday, March 13 at 12:00 p.m.ET
Rio Grande (16-9) is the No. 3 seed in the Marion Bracket B and will play No. 2 seed IU South Bend (6-0) in the opening round on Friday, March 12 at 7:00 p.m. ET. That pod is stationed on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan in Marion, Ind. The Rio Grande-IU South Bend winner will move on to play No. 1 seed and No. 1 nationally ranked Indiana Wesleyan (29-2) on Saturday, March 13 at 7:00 p.m. ET
The winners of the 16, three-team pods around the nation will each advance to the NAIA Men's Basketball National Championship final site March 18-23 in Kansas City, Mo.
