WVU Tech, Rio Grande begin NAIA WBB National Championship Opening Round
WVU Tech and University of Rio Grande (Ohio) are representing the River States Conference at the NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship, which begins at regional sites around the country March 12-13.
Rio Grande (18-8) is the No. 3 seed in the Crestview Hills, Ky., Bracket B and will take on No. 13-ranked and No. 2 seeded Indiana Tech (26-2) in the opening round on Friday, March 12 at 2:30 p.m. ET. That pod is stationed on the campus of No. 1-ranked Thomas More (Ky.) (25-1). The Rio Grande-Indiana Tech winner will play No. 1 seed Indiana Wesleyan (26-2) on Saturday, March 13 at 2:30 p.m. ET
WVU Tech (11-8) is the No. 3 seed in the Indianapolis, Ind., Bracket A and will play (RV) Shawnee State (Ohio) (18-8) in the opening round on Friday, March 12 at 7:30 p.m. ET. That pod is located on the campus of No. 1 seed and No. 5 nationally ranked Marian (Ind.) (26-5). The WVU Tech-Shawnee State winner will advance to play No. 1 seed St. Francis (Ill.) (22-5) on Saturday, March 13 at 8:00 p.m. ET
The winners of each of the 16, three-team pods around the nation will advance to the NAIA Women's Basketball National Championship final site March 18-23 at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
