IU East's Ferrari, Brescia'[s Burgos pick up RSC Men's Soccer weekly awards
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Indiana University East midfielder Gustavo Ferrari and Brescia (Ky.) University goalkeeper Ruben Burgos have been named River States Conference Men's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for March 8-14. The awards were based on all games so far this spring season.
Ferrari, a sophomore from Alberta, Canada, scored five goals in just three games to nab the award. He had two goals apiece in one-goal losses to Mt. Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) and Lourdes (Ohio). He followed that up with a goal versus Indiana Wesleyan, a 6-2 loss. Ferrari racked up 10 points on the week.
Burgos, a junior from Madrid, Spain, allowed just one goal in two complete-game efforts. The big performance was 12 saves in a 1-0 shutout over Georgetown (Ky.). Earlier in the week, he had four saves in a tough loss to Missouri Baptist, 1-0.
