IU East's Carvajal and Guenther take home RSC Women's Soccer weekly honors
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Indiana University East midfielder Priscilla Carvajal and defender Ellie Guenther swept the River States Conference Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week awards for March 8-14. The honors this week are for all games played so far in the spring season.
Carvajal, a senior from Munster, Ind., was the key offensive player in a 4-2 win over Jamestown (N.D.). She had two goals and four points to push the Red Wolves over the top.
Guenther, a junior from Indianapolis, Ind., was a key part of the IU East backline that gave up only nine shots on goal combined in the three games. The Red Wolves came away with a 1-1-1 record on the week with a 0-0 tie versus DePauw and a 3-0 loss versus No. 3 Marian (Ind.).
In the win over Jamestown, Gunther provided the assist on the go-ahead goal, a long pass up ahead.
