Point Park's Beardsley, Asbury's Paris tabbed for RSC Baseball weekly accolades
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Point Park (Pa.) University senior Nicholas Beardsley and Asbury (Ky.) University senior Walker Paris were selected for River States Conference Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week for March 8-14.
Beardsley, a right-hander from Torrance, Calif., pitched 10.0 innings on the week while striking out 15 and allowing just five hits and two earned runs. Beardsley pitched 8.0 innings in a victory over Rio Grande (Ohio), which included 11 strikeouts, no walks and four hits allowed. Only one of the two runs were earned. Earlier in the week, he pitched 2.0 innings and struck out four at Lourdes (Ohio).
Paris, an infielder from Mt. Vernon, Ind., racked up a batting average of .692 in four games, all wins for the Eagles. Paris was 9 for 13 on the week with two doubles, a home run, eight RBIs and one walk. He was 2 for 3 with a homer and three RBIs versus Trinity International (Ill.). On the weekend, Paris was 7 for 10 in a series sweep over WVU Tech, which featured two doubles and five RBIs. He collected two hits apiece in the series opener and finale and was 3 for 4 with three RBIs in the second game.
