IU Southeast's Monahan, IU Kokomo's McKee take home RSC Baseball honors
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Indiana University Southeast first baseman Matt Monahan and Indiana University Kokomo pitcher Max McKee are the River States Conference Baseball Players of the Week for March 22-28.
Monahan, a senior from New Lenox, Ill., hit .500 on the week to lead the Grenadiers to a series sweep over Asbury (Ky.). In the only three games of the week, Monahan was 6 for 12 with six runs, a double, homer and seven RBIs. He went 4 for 4 with four runs, a double, homer and six RBIs in the middle game, an 18-1 win. Monahan went 1 for 4 and scored a run in each of the other two games, a pair of one-run victories.
McKee, a senior from Middletown, Ind., pitched a complete game of 9.0 innings with no earned runs versus Brescia (Ky.). He struck out 13, walked just one and allowed five hits. He gave up just one run in the 7-1 victory, which was unearned.
