IU East's Morris, Point Park's Jacobs grab RSC Men's Outdoor T&F honors

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Indiana University East runner Parker Morris and Point Park (Pa.) University thrower Daniel Jacobs are the River States Conference Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for April 5-11.

Morris, a freshman from Jackson Center, Ohio, got on the podium for third place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Indiana Tech Invitational. His placement came with a time of 10 minutes, 35 seconds. He was the highest-placing individual on the day for the Red Wolves.

Jacobs, a sophomore from Elizabeth, Pa., claimed the RSC weekly honor for the third time in a row. He notched his third event victory in the javelin by placing first at the IUP Invitational. It was his third straight win at an NCAA Division II meet. He registered that distinction with a toss of 59.02 meters, which is in the top five of NAIA throws this year. His season-best currently ranks second in the nation.
