Carlow's Fairman, Rio Grande's Campolo gets RSC Softball weekly honors

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Carlow (Pa.) University senior Alysa Fairman and University of Rio Grande (Ohio) freshman Sydney Campolo are the River States Conference Softball Player & Pitcher of the Week for April 5-11.

Fairman, from Pittsburgh, Pa., hit .688 on the week with 11 hits in 16 at bats. That led Carlow to a 4-1 record, including 4-0 RSC. She homered four times, collected three doubles and scored six runs and drove in 16. In a doubleheader sweep of Oakland City, she was a combined 4 for 5 with a double, three homers and eight RBIs. The next day versus Brescia, she was 5 for 7 with two doubles, a homer and six RBIs. She also pitched a complete game versus Brescia.

Campolo, from New Lexington, Ohio, had two great starts on the week. In a pair of complete games, she went 2-0 with a 0.50 ERA, 19 strikeouts and one walk. She beat WVU Tech, 5-2, with 10 strikeouts, no walks and no earned runs allowed. Campolo then beat Asbury, 2-1, with nine punchouts and one walk. She gave up only four hits in each outing.
