Asbury's Paris, Rio Grande's Kendall pick up RSC Baseball Weekly Awards
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- Asbury (Ky.) University junior Walker Paris and University of Rio Grande (Ohio) senior Zach Kendall won River States Conference Baseball Player & Pitcher of the Week for their efforts April 5-11.
Paris, an infielder from Mt. Vernon, Ind., batted .444 (8 for 18) with four homers and 12 RBIs in five games on the week. Asbury went 4-1 in those games, including a weekend sweep of Ohio Christian in RSC action. Paris scored 11 runs, walked three times and also added a double. The 12 RBIs puts him No. 1 in the NAIA with 64 on the year.
Kendall, from Troy, Ohio, threw a complete game in an 11-1 victory over Brescia (Ky.). The game lasted eight innings with Kendall going the whole way to get his sixth win, tied for the RSC lead. He struck out 11, walked none and gave up only three hits. Kendall leads the RSC in opponent batting average (.207) and hits allowed per game (6.59).
