No. 20 IU Southeast's Monahan tabbed RSC Baseball Player of the Week
MIDDLETOWN, Ohio -- No. 20-ranked Indiana University Southeast had first baseman Matt Monahan hit over .500 with three homers to earn River States Conference Baseball Player of the Week for April 19-25.
The New Lenox, Ill., native was 10 for 19 in four games for an average of .526. He also doubled, homered three times, drove in nine and scored eight times on the week. Every game was a multi-hit performance, and he was 2 for 2 on stolen bases.
A big game was the series opener versus Midway, which had Monahan go 4 for 6 with two home runs, three RBIs and a double and two runs. He was 2 for 4 in each of the other two games of the series with a homer and five RBIs combined. He started the week going 2 for 5 and scoring three times in a win over Thomas More (Ky.).
Monahan currently leads the NAIA with 83 total hits and is tops in the RSC with a .428 batting average.
